Role Summary

The Software Engineer Associate is an entry-level engineering role on the IT Client Experience team focused on helping build, support, and improve ACI's digital client-facing platforms and experiences, including public websites, authenticated web experiences, mobile capabilities, and related Sales and Marketing technology integrations.

The primary responsibility of this role is to learn and contribute across day-to-day engineering and production support activities, including troubleshooting issues, validating releases, making code changes, improving support documentation, and partnering with senior engineers to keep digital experiences reliable, secure, accessible, and easy to use.

This position is well suited for an engineer early in their career who is eager to grow skills in modern web development, cloud-native platforms, integrations, observability, and production support while learning how technology enables client, advisor, sales, and marketing experiences.

This role reports to the IT Manager - Software Engineering.

This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office.

How You Will Make an Impact

Digital Experience Engineering & Production Support
  • Support ACI's client-facing digital platforms by helping troubleshoot production issues, service requests, defects, and operational questions.
  • Assist with triage by gathering details, recreating issues, reviewing logs or monitoring data, and coordinating with the appropriate engineers, product owners, vendors, or support partners.
  • Help validate releases, hotfixes, content changes, and configuration updates to ensure web and mobile experiences are ready for production use.
  • Provide clear status updates during support issues and contribute to post-incident notes, follow-ups, and documentation.
  • Maintain and improve runbooks, troubleshooting guides, support documentation, and standard operating procedures for owned applications and integrations.
Web, Mobile & Platform Reliability
  • Monitor application behavior, alerts, recurring issues, and client experience impacts across supported web, mobile, and marketing technology platforms.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and help implement fixes that reduce repeat issues and improve reliability, performance, accessibility, and supportability.
  • Learn how front-end applications, APIs, content platforms, analytics, authentication, and third-party services work together to deliver end-to-end digital experiences.
  • Support operational readiness by reviewing changes, checking deployment results, and confirming that monitoring and documentation are in place.
Software Engineering & Technical Growth
  • Develop and maintain small enhancements, bug fixes, automated tests, and configuration updates for supported digital platforms.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment activities, and technical discussions with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Build familiarity with modern web development practices, including JavaScript/TypeScript, component-based UI development, APIs, CI/CD, cloud hosting, and observability.
  • Learn and apply team standards for secure coding, accessibility, performance, maintainability, and production readiness.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve productivity while following team review, testing, and governance expectations.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with product owners, engineers, QA, UX, Marketing, Sales, operations, and support partners to understand priorities and deliver reliable digital solutions.
  • Ask questions, seek feedback, and actively learn from teammates while building ownership of assigned work.
  • Contribute to team rituals such as stand-ups, backlog refinement, planning sessions, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners, especially when explaining issue status, risks, or next steps.

What You Bring to the Team (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, finance, business, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 0-3 years of professional software development, technical support, internship, co-op, or related technology experience.
  • Foundational understanding of software engineering concepts, problem solving, debugging, and application support.
  • Interest in learning modern web technologies, APIs, cloud platforms, production operations, and digital client experience systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, ask good questions, document findings, and follow established processes.
  • Willingness to support production systems and occasionally respond to urgent issues or release-related needs.
