Our expertise allows us to seamlessly distribute pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other healthcare products to consumers, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience.
About the Role
The R&D Pharmacy Technician supports the development, evaluation, and scale-up of compounded pharmaceutical preparations and innovative dosage forms. You'll work closely with Product Development Scientists on formulation trials, compounding activities, process optimization, equipment operation, documentation, and stability studies - all while ensuring compliance with USP standards, cGMP principles, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
We're specifically looking for an already-experienced compounding pharmacy technician - this is not an entry-level role. An active Florida State Pharmacy Technician License is required, no exceptions. If you're proactive, open-minded, hungry to grow, and comfortable owning a project from start to finish with minimal oversight, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Formulation Development Support
  • Assist in preparing prototype formulations for capsules, tablets, troches, oral dissolving films (ODF), oral dissolving tablets (ODT), suspensions, solutions, creams, gels, and other compounded dosage forms
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare raw materials according to approved formulations and batch records
  • Support formulation optimization studies and trial batch execution
  • Prepare laboratory-scale and pilot-scale batches for evaluation

Compounding Operations
  • Perform compounding activities according to approved Master Formulation Records (MFRs)
  • Operate and clean compounding equipment, including mixers/blenders, tablet presses, capsule filling equipment, triple roll mills, film casting equipment, balances, and lab instruments
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and formulation issues

Documentation & Data Management
  • Complete batch records, laboratory notebooks, and test request forms accurately
  • Enter formulation and batch information into electronic formulation management systems
  • Maintain records of experiments, observations, and formulation changes
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and development summaries

Material & Inventory Management
  • Receive, label, and organize APIs, excipients, flavors, colors, and packaging materials
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and notify management of material shortages
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceutical materials

Quality & Compliance
  • Follow USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, and company SOP requirements as applicable
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment
  • Assist with stability studies, sample preparation, and product evaluations
  • Participate in investigations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement initiatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with R&D Scientists, Pharmacists, Production, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control teams
  • Support technology transfer and scale-up activities from development to production
  • Assist in product launches and validation activities
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Active Florida State Pharmacy Technician License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of pharmacy technician, compounding, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or laboratory experience - already experienced in compounding strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and weighing techniques
  • Familiarity with USP compounding standards
  • Ability to read and follow formulation records and SOPs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50-60 pounds
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in laboratory/cleanroom environments
  • English required

Preferred:
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
  • Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
  • Experience in a compounding pharmacy or pharmaceutical environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
Who Thrives Here
  • Proactive - anticipates needs and takes initiative rather than waiting to be told
  • Growth-minded - eager to learn, take on new challenges, and develop professionally
  • Open-minded - receptive to new ideas, feedback, and better ways of doing things
  • Accountable - owns the process from A to Z and follows through on commitments
