About BGC Jane and Finch Club
BGC Jane and Finch Club is committed to providing children and youth with safe, inclusive, and engaging programs that inspire learning, leadership, healthy living, and positive relationships.
Our After-School Program provides children ages 5-10 with a safe and welcoming environment where they can participate in recreation, sports, creative arts, literacy, homework support, leadership development, and healthy living activities.
We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, organized, and dependable individuals to join our team as Site Leaders for the 2026-2027 school year.
Position Summary
The Site Leader is responsible for the overall daily operation of an assigned after-school program location. Reporting to the Children's Program Coordinator and Program Manager, the Site Leader provides leadership and supervision to staff, ensures the delivery of high-quality programming, maintains a safe and inclusive environment, communicates with families and school staff, and ensures all BGC Jane and Finch Club policies and procedures are followed.
The Site Leader serves as the primary point of contact at their assigned site and is responsible for supporting staff while fostering a positive experience for all children and families.

Please Note: Site Leaders will be assigned to one primary location but may be required to support other BGC Jane and Finch Club program sites as operational needs require.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the daily operation of an assigned after-school program site.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging, age-appropriate programming aligned with the Ontario After School Program Guidelines.
- Ensure programs include physical activity, literacy, recreation, creative arts, STEM, healthy living, and leadership opportunities.
- Ensure staff are actively engaged with participants and providing quality programming.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and positive leadership for staff, volunteers, and placement students.
- Support the development of a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.
Staff Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and support Children's Program Mentors, Relief Staff, volunteers, and placement students.
- Delegate daily responsibilities and provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback.
- Conduct daily staff check-ins and communicate program expectations.
- Monitor staff performance and communicate concerns to the Children's Program Coordinator and Program Manager.
- Ensure staff maintain professional standards, punctuality, attendance, active participation, and appropriate supervision of children.
- Assist with onboarding and training new staff as required.
Child Supervision & Safety
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, injuries, illnesses, and behavioural incidents.
- Complete and submit all incident reports accurately and within required timelines.
- Ensure monthly fire drills and lockdown drills are conducted in accordance with organizational policies and legislative requirements.
- Complete and submit all fire drill and lockdown documentation to the Program Manager by required deadlines.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and ensure emergency procedures are followed.
- Immediately notify the Children's Program Coordinator and Program Manager of any serious incidents, injuries, emergencies, or child protection concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all BGC Jane and Finch Club policies, Ontario health and safety regulations, child protection procedures, and food safety standards.
Program Administration
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
- Ensure participant files, emergency contacts, medical alerts, allergies, and sign-in/sign-out procedures are complete and accurate.
- Maintain site binders and all required program documentation.
- Monitor program supplies and submit supply requests as needed.
- Complete and submit attendance records, incident reports, monthly fire drill reports, lockdown reports, and all other required administrative documentation by organizational deadlines.
- Ensure all site documentation is accurate, current, organized, and readily available for review.
- Monitor compliance with organizational policies, operational procedures, and program standards.
School & Parent Relations
- Build positive and professional relationships with school administration, teachers, families, and community partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians at the assigned site.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child(ren)'s participation, progress, achievements, behavioral concerns, incidents, and overall program experience.
- Address parent questions and concerns in a professional, timely, and respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality.
- Escalate concerns requiring additional support to the Children's Program Coordinator and Program Manager.
- Communicate important program updates, schedules, special events, and organizational information to families as required.
Teamwork
- Attend all mandatory meetings, professional development sessions, and organizational training.
- Support PA Day programs, school break programming, special events, and community initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Children's Program Coordinator and Program Manager to continuously improve program quality.
- Support other program sites when operational needs require.
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma or Degree (completed or in progress) in:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Child & Youth Care (CYC)
- Child & Youth Worker (CYW)
- Social Service Worker (SSW)
- Recreation & Leisure
- Education
- or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in after-school programs, recreation, camps, or community programming.
- Previous experience supervising staff, volunteers, or program teams.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of child development, behaviour management, and program planning.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively manage multiple priorities.
Mandatory Certifications
Applicants must possess or obtain prior to employment:
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
- Valid Food Handler Certificate
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading after-school or licensed child care programs.
- Experience with attendance tracking, program documentation, and incident reporting.
- Knowledge of Ontario After School Program Guidelines.
- Experience supporting children with diverse learning, behavioural, or developmental needs.
Availability
Applicants must be available Monday through Friday throughout the school year.
