Technician I - Fire Alarm Test & Inspect
FT, Non-exempt, Some Early Start Times
The Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician I is responsible for performing routine testing and inspection of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. This position works under general supervision, assisting senior technicians while gaining hands-on experience with various fire alarm systems and life safety devices.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems and components to verify proper operation and code compliance.
• Document inspection results, deficiencies, and recommendations in a clear and accurate manner.
• Communicate inspection findings with building owners, managers, and internal staff.
• Assist with minor repairs, device replacements, and system troubleshooting as directed.
• Maintain all tools, testing equipment, and company vehicle in clean and proper working order.
• Follow all company safety procedures and comply with NFPA, OSHA, and local codes.
• Participate in company-provided training to develop proficiency with a variety of manufacturer systems and codes.
• Support other team members and departments as needed.
Job Qualifications:
• 1-2 years of experience in fire alarm testing and inspection preferred.
• Basic knowledge of fire alarm system components and functions.
• Experience with low-voltage systems or electrical background preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• NICET Level I in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months. High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing ladders. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights and in a variety of customer environments, including commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
Compensation Information: This is an hourly role starting between $22-23 hourly for an entry level Technician. Experienced technicians are encouraged to apply and compensation can be discussed before interviewing for the role.
