Field Cost & Reporting Specialist

Heavy Civil Construction Company

Position Summary

The Entry Level Field Cost & Reporting Specialist supports the project management and accounting teams by assisting with project cost tracking, production reporting, and field documentation for heavy civil construction projects. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in construction management, project controls, or construction accounting.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and accounting staff to help ensure accurate job costing, reporting, and project financial tracking.


Key ResponsibilitiesProject Cost & Production Tracking
  • Assist with tracking daily project costs including labor, equipment, materials, trucking, and subcontractors
  • Review field reports, timecards, and production quantities for accuracy
  • Help maintain accurate job cost coding and project documentation
  • Support preparation of weekly and monthly project cost reports
  • Assist project teams with budget tracking and production analysis
Field & Operations Support
  • Communicate with superintendents and field crews regarding daily production and reporting
  • Visit project sites as needed to gather project information and support operations
  • Help track quantities completed versus project budgets
  • Assist with project start-up and close-out documentation
Administrative & Accounting Support
  • Assist with purchase orders, invoices, subcontractor billings, and equipment tracking
  • Coordinate with payroll and accounting departments to ensure proper cost allocation
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation
  • Support month-end reporting and data entry

Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required
  • Construction internship or field experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
