JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Teller is an entry-level position designed for high school students interested in gaining professional work experience while learning the fundamentals of retail banking. Under the guidance of location leadership and experienced staff, the Student Teller provides friendly customer service, processes routine financial transactions accurately, and develops a foundational understanding of banking operations. This position emphasizes professionalism, customer service, teamwork, and operational accuracy while building skills for future career opportunities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service
  • Greet customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Provide prompt and accurate customer service while creating a positive banking experience.
  • Answer basic customer questions and refer complex requests to the appropriate employee.
  • Represent the Bank in a professional manner consistent with the Bank’s mission and values.
Teller Responsibilities
  • Process routine teller transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, and account transfers under established procedures.
  • Accurately balance cash, verify transactions, and balance an assigned cash drawer.
  • Maintain transaction records and complete required documentation.
  • Assist with night depository processing, coin and currency requests, and other routine location duties as assigned.
  • Follow all cash handling, balancing, and security procedures.
Learning amp; Development
  • Develop a basic understanding of the Bank’s products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Learn banking regulations and operational procedures applicable to teller responsibilities.
  • Participate in required training and demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Observe and learn other location functions to gain exposure to retail banking operations.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information.
  • Follow all Bank policies, procedures, security, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
  • Work cooperatively with location employees and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Basic cash handling and mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer and keyboard proficiency.
  • Ability to learn banking software and office technology.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in high school.
  • Previous customer service, cashier, volunteer, or extracurricular leadership experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated dependability, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibility.
  • Ability to maintain a regular work schedule averaging 10-20 hours per week during the school year. Availability may include after-school hours, Saturdays, school breaks, and additional hours during the summer based on business needs and student availability. The Bank recognizes that school and academic commitments come first and will make reasonable efforts to provide scheduling flexibility around those commitments. Students are expected to communicate school, extracurricular, and other scheduling needs in advance and maintain dependable attendance for agreed-upon work schedules.
WORKING CONDITIONS amp; PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is performed in a profession retail banking environment with frequent customer interaction.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of computers, office equipment, and cash handling equipment.
  • Frequent use of hands for keyboarding, counting cash, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and, on occasion, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.
