Job description

Start a sales career where your conversations make a real difference.

Participating independently owned and operated Farmers Insurance agencies throughout the Portland metropolitan area are seeking motivated Insurance Sales Representatives. You'll help individuals, families, and businesses understand their insurance needs, compare coverage options, and protect what they have worked hard to build.

Prior insurance experience is not required for candidates who are motivated, coachable, comfortable working toward measurable goals, and willing to obtain the required Oregon insurance license. Depending on the hiring agency, opportunities may include lead support, hands-on training, licensing assistance, individual coaching, and a defined sales process.

The guaranteed base salary is $36,000 annually, plus earned commission. Expected total annual compensation is $36,000-$75,000, depending on performance. Compensation above the base is not guaranteed.

Each Farmers Insurance agency is independently owned and operated. This posting represents opportunities with participating local agencies and is not an offer of employment from Farmers Insurance corporate or a centralized district office. The hiring agency determines the final role, employment terms, compensation, benefits, schedule, work location, training, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Build prospective-customer relationships through inbound and outbound lead follow-up, referrals, and agency marketing.

Ask thoughtful questions and identify customers' insurance needs.

Prepare accurate quotes and explain coverage options clearly.

Answer questions, address objections, follow up consistently, and confidently ask for the business.

Maintain accurate activity and customer records while providing prompt, professional support.

Work toward defined activity and sales goals while participating in coaching and training.

Requirements

Strong verbal, written, and listening skills.

Comfortable making outbound calls, following up consistently, and working toward measurable goals.

Coachable, dependable, organized, self-motivated, and resilient.

Comfortable learning quoting, CRM, and other business technology.

Active Oregon insurance license or willingness to obtain one within the hiring agency's required timeframe. Sales or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
