Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This entry level role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering recurring and ad hoc reporting to support departments across the organization, with a focus on HR, timekeeping, and payroll-related data. Ensures data accuracy through validation and reconciliation, partners with other departments to define requirements, and provides backup support for payroll processing and related administration as needed. This position reports to the Payroll Manager and ensures all reports meet the company's SOX compliance requirements, including required review and approval prior to distribution.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting & Analytics
  • Develops, automates, and maintains recurring reports and dashboards (e.g., headcount, labor hours, overtime, time-off, payroll registers, and exception reporting) for HR, Finance, and Operations.
  • Partners with departments to gather reporting requirements, translate business needs into report specifications, and recommend standardized metrics and definitions.
  • Assists with data validation and reconciliation across HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems; investigates variances and documents root cause and resolution.
  • Build and maintain data extracts, templates, and distribution processes to ensure timely delivery of weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
  • Creates and maintains report documentation for compliance, data reference guide, and process guides; provides end-user support and training for self-service reporting where applicable.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve data quality and reporting efficiency through process improvements and automation (e.g., advanced Excel functions, Power Query/Power Pivot, macros where appropriate).
  • Supports audits and compliance requests by producing source documentation and reconciliations (e.g., FLSA, wage and hour, benefit and deduction support).
  • Ensures payroll-related reporting is reviewed and approved by the Payroll Manager prior to distribution to comply with SOX requirements and internal controls.
  • Maintains confidentiality of employee information and adheres to internal controls and data governance standards.

Payroll Backup Support
  • Serves as backup for weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing activities, including timecard review, payroll audit checks, and coordination of corrections.
  • Assists with payroll-related employee inquiries, including pay statements, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and timekeeping issues; escalates complex items as needed.
  • Supports maintenance of employee job and pay changes impacting payroll, ensuring appropriate approvals and accurate effective dating.
  • Participates in payroll close activities and supports quarter-end and year-end processes (e.g., reconciliations and reporting support).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or related field preferred.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in reporting/analytics, HRIS/timekeeping reporting, payroll, or a related role.
  • Experience building and maintaining recurring reports and ad hoc analysis; ability to translate business questions into clear reporting outputs.
  • Knowledge of basic wage and hour laws and FLSA compliance required.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven ability to validate data, reconcile discrepancies, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
  • Preferred experience with Paycor and UKG/Kronos timekeeping; multi-state payroll experience preferred.
  • Hybrid schedule based out of the Birmingham, AL Corporate Office.

Office Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods working at a desk in front of a computer.
