Job description

Position Summary Description

We are seeking a motivated recent college graduate to join our commodities trading desk as a Trade Analyst. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to build a career in commodities trading while learning directly from experienced traders in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

In this role, you will support the trading team by monitoring live market activity, analyzing price trends, assisting with trade execution and reconciliation, tracking positions and risk, and contributing to data-driven market research. You will gain hands-on exposure to a variety of energy markets while developing strong analytical, quantitative, and commercial skills.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Additional work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Learn and develop expertise in energy trading risk management (ETRM) systems and market data tools while receiving direct mentorship from experienced traders.
  • Support daily trading activities by analyzing market fundamentals, price trends, supply/demand dynamics, weather impacts, and logistical constraints to identify risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with trade execution, position management, scheduling, and reconciliation of physical and financial power transactions.
  • Track and report on portfolio positions, mark-to-market valuations, and exposure to help manage market, credit, and operational risk.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly market reports, dashboards, and performance analysis for traders and management.
  • Maintain and update trading models, spreadsheets, and tools to support forecasting, optimization, and scenario analysis.
  • Collaborate with power plant operations, load forecasting, risk management, and settlements teams to ensure accurate and efficient portfolio optimization.
  • Support hedging programs and compliance with cooperative policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., FERC), and risk management guidelines.
  • Conduct research on market rules, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in wholesale power markets.
  • Reconcile trades and resolve discrepancies with counterparties, brokers, and market operators.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of trading processes, systems, and data analytics capabilities.
  • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.


  • NERC Compliance: Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and your duties and responsibilities in the SOM.


Physical Requirements

Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions. Travel and work outside of regularly scheduled hours may be required. Position requires after-hours (evenings and weekends) on-call duty.
