Job description

Fulcrum Environmental Consulting, Inc. is seeking an entry level environmental scientist or geologist to grow our team of environmental professionals. Our projects occur as a result of site development, redevelopment, and financing on commercial, industrial, and agricultural lands.


Successful candidates will have completed a Bachelor of Geology, Earth Sciences, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Wetlands Science., or closely aligned field. We generally anticipate that entry level staff will have less than 2 years of post-graduation experience or work experience that is partially aligned.


Your work will include:

  • Assisting senior staff conduct site investigation and remediation projects
  • Completing groundwater and stormwater sampling
  • Evaluating laboratory results for compliance with applicable regulations
  • Collecting and organizing environmental data
  • Preparing figures, maps and exhibits in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Drafting work plans, investigations, and remediation reports
  • Reading and applying applicable regulations, guidance, and industry standards
  • Maintaining field equipment and ordering supplies


Responsibilities will include field work activities, documentation, basic data analysis/data organization, and technical report preparation. Field work is performed in a range of weather conditions and qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to travel to project sites as needed.


You are expected to have:

  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills
  • Desire to learn and develop your professional practice
  • Attention to detail, including field notes and project documentation
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively coordinate projects with co-workers, subcontractors, general contractors, and clients
  • Bring practical solutions to field challenges
  • Flexible to work on a wide variety of projects, tasks and assignments, responding easily to changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a diverse firm with a wide variety of clients


Successful candidates will pursue and acquire the following certifications prior to joining or during their first year:

  • Washington State Underground Storage Tank Site Assessor and Decommissioner certifications
  • Washington State Licensed Geologist or Geologist in Training\Fundamentals of Geology
  • 40 hour Hazardous Waste Emergency Response Operations (HAZWOPER)
  • Certified Erosion and Sediment Control LEAD (CECSL)
  • First Aid and CPR


Over time we expect that you will develop expertise and recognition as a firm and regional technical expert. As you progress, the complexity and difficulty of projects are expected to increase and your responsibilities for project decisions and leadership can increase as well. We will assist your development with in-house training, online course, and conference attendance.

This position is paid hourly with occasional overtime and a hiring range of $25 to $28 per hour.
