Purpose:

The Intermediate Associate Engineer will report directly to the Practice Lead of the Fire & Electrical group. The role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to consult with clients, perform site examinations, testing, and analysis, and prepare clear, concise, and professional engineering reports and findings. The role will include involvement in fire investigations, and candidates with fire investigation experience are encouraged to apply. Candidates without this experience will be trained in fire investigation work as part of their development in the role.

Role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform site examinations, document review, and technical analysis related to electrical failures and forensic engineering investigations, including fire investigation work where applicable and with training provided as needed
  • Communicate findings clearly and effectively to clients and internal teams
  • Support client interactions and gradually develop independence in managing files and technical assessments
  • Assist in managing project workflows, timelines, and deliverables
  • Prepare technical reports based on sound engineering investigation and analysis
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and forensic disciplines, including fire investigators
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development activities over time
  • Develop familiarity with client service expectations, MSAs, and project billing structures

Requirements:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or actively working toward P.Eng. registration
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4-6 years of post-graduate experience in a technical engineering environment
  • Exposure to fire and electrical forensic investigations, fire investigation experience, or a strong interest in developing in this area
  • CFEI designation considered an asset
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage clients professionally
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
