GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking a motivated Entry Level Environmental Geologist or Engineer to join our growing Fairfield, New Jersey office. If you are ready to build your consulting career while working side-by-side with respected experts in site investigation and remediation, this is the opportunity for you.

At GZA, you will work on meaningful projects throughout New Jersey, New York City, and the surrounding region, including environmental site investigations, remediation, data management, and environmental compliance. You will work under the guidance of Project Managers and Principals, while gaining direct experience in the field and office and developing the technical, regulatory, communication, and project delivery skills needed for long-term growth.

What you will do:

  • Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks, including drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, stormwater sampling, remediation oversight, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Monitor and document field activities associated with investigation, remediation, and construction projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Conduct technical analyses and calculations, and assist with the interpretation of environmental data.
  • Prepare field documentation, data tables, figures, report sections, work plans, and permit application materials.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Principals, subcontractors, laboratories, and other project team members to support safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Contribute to GZAโ€™s collaborative One Company culture by supporting multidisciplinary projects and teams across practice areas and locations.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant environmental consulting experience, including field investigation, site remediation, permitting, construction management, or related work.
  • Experience with New Jersey environmental regulations is preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification preferred.
  • Strong interest in safety and ability to follow GZA Health and Safety programs, policies, and procedures during on-site activities.
  • Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, organizational, and data management skills.
  • Ability to balance field and office responsibilities with independence, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing clear technical documentation, including field notes, figures, tables, report sections, and permit-related materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD, ArcGIS, gINT, or other technical software experience is a plus.
  • Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher status preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally. Candidates must have a valid driverโ€™s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle.

The base salary range for this position is$70,000 โ€“ $90,000depending on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
