Canizares Law Group, LLC, established in 2017, is an immigration law firm serving clients nationwide. We pride ourselves on maintaining a professional, supportive, and collaborative work environment. Our firm currently employs approximately 52 team members, including 9 attorneys and our Senior Partner, Claudia Canizares.
We are seeking a Junior / Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join our growing legal team. This position is ideal for a newly licensed attorney or an attorney beginning their career in immigration law who is eager to learn, develop professionally, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.
Prior immigration law experience is preferred but not required. The selected attorney will receive guidance and training while gaining exposure to a variety of immigration matters, including asylum, removal proceedings, defensive applications for relief, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, consular processing, VAWA applications, and waivers.
We are looking for a candidate who has a strong interest in immigration law, excellent research and writing skills, and a willingness to develop confidence representing clients before USCIS and Immigration Court.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be admitted and in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • Must speak Spanish.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients.
  • Empathetic and passionate about helping clients navigate the immigration process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and receive feedback and mentorship.
  • Desire for continued professional growth.
  • Willingness to travel outside of the state when necessary.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Communicating regularly with clients regarding the status and development of their cases.
  • Assisting with and managing an assigned caseload while meeting court, USCIS, and internal deadlines.
  • Conducting legal research on immigration laws, regulations, policies, and case law.
  • Drafting motions, briefs, memoranda of law, declarations, and other legal documents.
  • Reviewing immigration applications, petitions, supporting documentation, and filings.
  • Assisting in the preparation of clients for USCIS interviews and Immigration Court hearings.
  • Appearing at USCIS interviews and Immigration Court proceedings as assigned and with appropriate supervision and training.
  • Working with supervising attorneys to develop legal strategies for clients' cases.
  • Staying informed regarding legal and policy developments that may impact our clients.
  • Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, case coordinators, and other team members to ensure cases are handled efficiently and professionally.
