Pointcore Network Services is a network services company enabling better healthcare through reliable and cost-efficient access to patient data and information. We are a powerful team of clinicians, technologists, and strategists. We harness innovative technology and deploy patient care improvements in critical hospital environments. Position: Network Deployment Specialist
Duration: 6-12 months, they plan to convert to full time
ONSITE/Travel:
- Their office & warehouse is in Peoria, but their job will focus on travel to different work sites across southern and central Illinois (Peoria, Peru, Bloomington, Rockford, Chicagoland, etc.).
- Need to have a valid driver's license and a reliable car and the ability to be an authorized driver of rented or company vehicles.
- All travel is scheduled and planned ahead of time so they will know travel plans in advance.
- Reimburse for mileage, food, everything they will need, if travel is over 100 miles, they’ll rent a car which will be paid for by the company.
- There will be some remote work days where they can WFH, but they should not expect them.
Team Structure: Report to Tim Clark and Rob Miller, Services Integration Leadership. Work with a team of about 40 Services folks and 10 or so Network/Deployment Engineers.
Overview:
- Network Deployment Specialist works with the client’s Network Services implementation teams to install and configure communications equipment related to LAN, WAN, Voice, and Wireless.
- The Network Deployment Specialist will work at the direction of a Project Manager or Implementation Coordinator to complete the implementation of communication solutions in healthcare client environments.
- The position is client-facing requiring the ability to deal diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders in a potential high-stress, customer-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- With the management of the project team, complete assigned duties including the deployment of network and communications equipment.
- With oversight and documentation, configure network and communications equipment.
- Basic troubleshooting of network, communications, and IT equipment typically requiring a general understanding of IT and communications networks.
- Effective use of the client’s toolset to document project efforts, modify project-related documentation, and to communicate with project team and clients.
- Collaborate with project management resources to help plan for deployment or upgrade activities by providing input into project work plans, including the definition of key activities and tasks, allocation of resource time, and execution of activities in a timely manner.
- Implement new technology as specified in approved design documents in a manner that maintains a high degree of professionalism and customer communication along the way.
- Key efforts this position will be involved with include – wireless network deployments, LAN implementations and voice over IP telephony migrations. Cisco phone deployments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in a Network, IT, or Communications related field
- 2+ years of experience preferred (Networking, telecommunications, wireless, LAN/WAN, VoIP, racking & stacking, etc.) but they can be an entry-level if they have any networking type of background
- Knowledge of information technology at a level normally acquired through completion of an Associate’s degree with concentration in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or other closely related field is preferred.
- Ability to operate normal Microsoft and Web-based applications; including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
- Customer service focused, strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment
Physical Requirements:
- Sit, walk, stand, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, stoop and kneel. Good manual dexterity, using hands for computer applications and writing. Vision, hearing, speaking for communication needs.
- Position requires on-call availability, which requires after-hours support and weekend work in times of escalation needs. Some travel is expected for training and vendor visits.
- The position does require all physical aspects typically found within a Data Center, switch/router placement, pulling cable, etc.
