Entry Level Engineering Student information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Engineering Student, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Engineering Student, you need a solid grasp of math, physics, and foundational engineering concepts, typically supported by enrollment in an accredited engineering program. Familiarity with technical tools such as CAD software, MATLAB, and basic lab equipment is often expected. Strong analytical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication skills help you collaborate on projects and convey technical ideas clearly. These skills are crucial to succeed in coursework, participate in hands-on projects, and prepare for future engineering roles.

What are entry level engineering students?

Entry level engineering students are individuals who are currently pursuing or have recently completed an undergraduate engineering degree and are seeking internships, co-op programs, or their first professional roles in the engineering field. They typically have foundational knowledge of engineering principles but may have limited hands-on work experience. These students are eager to learn, develop practical skills, and gain exposure to real-world engineering projects. Employers often look for strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a willingness to adapt and grow within a team environment.

What types of projects or tasks can an entry level engineering student expect to work on during an internship or co-op?

As an entry level engineering student, you can expect to be involved in a variety of hands-on projects ranging from data analysis and technical documentation to assisting with design prototypes or lab testing. Typically, you'll work under the guidance of more experienced engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as quality assurance or manufacturing. These experiences are designed to help you develop practical skills, learn industry standards, and gain a deeper understanding of the engineering process in a professional setting. The work environment is usually supportive and encourages asking questions and learning from feedback.

What is the difference between Entry Level Engineering Student vs Intern Engineer?

AspectEntry Level Engineering StudentIntern Engineer

Job description

We're building 'the' Teaching Hospital for pediatric therapy - a category of one by driving excellence in outcomes, developing clinicians, building payer trust, and embedding systems across what we do.

Bierman Autism Centers is looking for a full-time & center-based Clinician in Training to join a motivated and energetic team focused on transforming the lives of children diagnosed with autism while building a fun and creative culture at work. Every little detail of your work adds up to something that will amaze you. You will be committed and focused on helping parents and their child grow on their terms. You will constantly challenge yourself to gain new skills, try new methods and adapt to be better to help each child. Our one-on-one approach is focused on natural play to teach foundational skills our kids can build on, such as self-advocacy and communication. Every child's success is unique! We continually challenge ourselves to do anything it takes to enable our kids to reach their potential on their terms.

The Details:

Our centers are open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am - 5pm. We primarily work with children between the ages of 2-9 in a center-based environment.

The Clinician in Training is an entry level Behavior Analyst role that is designed to give the candidate a hands-on training experience by pairing them with an experienced BCBA who will serve as their mentor as they go through the CiT Training sequence. The CiT has a primary responsibility to accelerate client success through responsibilities delegated by their assigned BCBA mentor. By sharing a caseload and pod, the mentor BCBA will serve as a model as the CiT learns all of the responsibilities and tasks that they would need to complete as a Behavior Analyst.

Training Timeline

  • Phase 1: shadowing and completing assigned non-billable tasks. Mentor BA models team training and once CiT tests with appropriate fidelity they can also take over team training outside of consult overlap time.
  • Phase 2: Mentor BA models and tests probing programming targets, conducting assessments, and making programming changes. Mentor BA starts to delegate non-billable consult time dedicated to both team training and programming updates.
  • Phase 3: Mentor BA overlaps as CiT starts to run the consults independently.

Fun and Challenging Responsibilities for our Clinicians in Training:

  • Share a caseload with an experienced BA in the center who serves as a mentor and coach
  • Assist with the PS tasks related to shared clients
    • Create materials for learners on caseload (after completion of MRS training)
    • Assist in the maintenance and organization of the therapy materials for learners on caseload
  • Assist with CST for new hires who will be entering pod as assigned by BCBA
  • Assist with BIC's as assigned by BCBA
  • Assist with ongoing integrity checks and training BTs on new programming implemented by BCBA
  • Assists with the completion of monthly progress reports
  • Sits in on parent meetings, assists with material preparation for parent meetings and trainings
  • Assists with creating and changing charts and updating data sheets following a shared consult

Requirements

Is the Clinician in Training role a good fit for you? Here are our requirements:

  • Do you enjoy working with children and love learning?
  • Are you in the process of finishing supervision (last 3-4 months), waiting to take the BCBA exam, or newly certified and applying for licensure?
  • Supervision hours 1650 accrued.
  • Do you demonstrate Bierman's core values?
  • Are you able to lift, transport, and chase clients (minimum of 30 pounds) as needed?

Our Story: A Legacy of Progress, Fueled by Play

In 2006, Bierman Autism Centers began with a simple dream: to empower children with autism to thrive. We believed in the power of letting kids be kids and initially offered in-home care to foster a comforting and familiar environment.

We were driven by three core beliefs: achieving remarkable progress with children, creating a great team that enjoys working together, and building a workplace that fosters internal career paths and growth for our team members.

Our dedication to progress led us to a pivotal moment. Recognizing the potential of center-based care, we opened our first center in Indiana in 2010. This wasn't just about location; it shifted our philosophy. Centers allowed us to create consistent, nurturing environments tailored to each child's needs.

This shift became the cornerstone of our success. Today, Bierman Autism Centers are beacons of innovative care across Arizona, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, and Rhode Island. We offer ABA therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Diagnostic Services within center-based settings designed for the comprehensive development of our children.

Bierman Autism Centers values diversity in the workplace. The company provides equal opportunity for employment and promotion to all qualified employees and applicants on the basis of experience, training, education, and ability to do the available work without regard to race, religion, color, age, sex/gender, sexual orientation, national origin, gender identity, disability, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, ancestry or any other status protected by law.

Furthermore, Bierman Autism Centers is committed to providing an equal opportunity workplace that is free of discrimination and harassment based on national origin, race, color, religion, gender, ancestry, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by law.

As an equal opportunity employer, Bierman Autism Centers does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities. If you require a reasonable accommodation as a candidate for employment, please inform a member of the Talent Acquisition team.
