Job description

Southland Holdings company is currently accepting resumes for a highly motivated Field Engineer to join our team in Lake Charles LA/Vinton LA/Beaumont TX Area.
This position requiring 1-3 years' with heavy civil general contractor experience.
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals.
  • Assist in management of project permit process.
  • Assist is preparation of bid packages and procurement.
  • Receive and review change orders.
  • Assist more senior civil engineers with entry level engineering tasks.
  • Assist with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents.
  • Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing
  • releases and reports status.
  • Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications.
  • Reviews and processes as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course
  • of construction are recorded.
  • Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents.
  • Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items.
  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers
  • and contractors.
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience/heavy civil general contractor experience.
  • Transportation experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT.
  • Excellent computer skills and analytical ability.
  • Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD. Understanding of industrial construction process.
  • Must have ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings. Knowledge of contract procedures and principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Relevant experience can waive degree.
