Job description

Element has an opportunity for an EMI/EMC Test Technician whose primary responsibility is to perform EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) tests, and use standard and precision instrumentation to take measurements of electronic, electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems in an EMI laboratory setting.

Salary: $22.00 / hour


  • Test Design - Use Engineering principles to design EMI test procedures and specifications based on Customer SOWs and Test Standards
  • Perform Testing - Provide support to Technicians as tests are conducted.
  • Ensure that all necessary data is captured. May also run tests themselves
  • Data Processing - After test completion, review and interpret test data.
  • Communicate findings to Program Manager and/or client.
  • Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Regular supervision usually under the direction of the Chief Engineer and/or Department Manager
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Regular interaction with clients. Builds stable working relationships internally
  • General understanding, interpretation and analysis of test results
  • Foundational understanding of EMI Engineering principles; strong understanding of data interpretation, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of global EMC standards and test specifications, Electrical and Mechanical principles; general knowledge of all potential aspects of safety
  • Strong mathematical skills, able to design and use all standard EMI equipment

  • Minimum HS Diploma
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering related field preferred
  • 2-4 Years of Experience
  • Forklift Experience a plus
  • Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervision
  • Understand what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required
  • Able to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal

Physical Demands:

  • Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervision
  • Understand what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is.
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required
  • Able to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal
