Job Title: Instructional Specialist (PTA Funded) Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Professional Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Days: 188 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Administrative/Professional Pay Plan, Pay Grade 104 Contract: Probationary/Term Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Responsible for improving the literacy content knowledge and instructional effectiveness of teachers serving students in the elementary ELAR classroom. Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Valid Texas teacher certification or teaching certificate from out of state appropriate to position.
• Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong pedagogy knowledge required in the areas of reading, writing, and phonics.
• Exceptional communication skills required, including the ability to conduct parent conferences/training; present on content-specific topics, and interact with students effectively.
• Knowledge and experience in curriculum and instructional strategy implementation required.
• Knowledge and experience with rigorous curriculum and instructional strategy required. Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices including (but not limited to) project-based learning, differentiated instruction, lesson planning and student assessment required.
• Well versed in student assessment analysis, including but not limited to TXKEA, MAP, STAAR, district phonological awareness and phonics assessments.
• Willingness to participate in professional development for coaching duties, such as those that will teach strategies and best practices for mentoring, facilitating and training required. Evidence of skills in planning, organization and collaboration required.
• Knowledge and experience in coaching and training preferred.
• Proficient in the effective use of technology to enhance learning.
• Knowledge of effective professional development practices preferred.
• Knowledge of English Language Learners (ELL) strategies preferred. Passion for increasing student learning preferred. Knowledge of adult learning methodology preferred. Knowledge of RtI Strategies preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in facilitating effective Professional Learning Community collaborative meetings preferred.
• Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and track progress effectively.
• Prior evidence of high-progress student outcomes in the relevant subjects or, at the entry level, evidence of superior prior academic achievements, and organizing and influence skills indicating very high potential to perform at this level.

Experience:

• Evidence of at least three (3) years of recent successful classroom teaching experience required.
• Experience in multiple grade levels preferred.
• Experience using student and campus level data to select, implement and differentiate instructional methods, designed to meet each student's individual needs preferred.

Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

Planning & Preparation:

• Model methods and create instructional tools and materials that can be used in all classrooms.
• Conduct needs analysis to identify teaching and learning needs at each campus and organize and implement problem-solving strategies with teachers and administrators.
• Assist with the design and implementation of lesson planning and common assessment.
• Monitor and analyze student assessment data to inform enriched instruction by teacher.
• Assist teams with backward planning to align all lessons, activities, and assessments.
• Assist teams with integrating technology to enhance learning and keyboard/computer proficiency.

Instruction:

• Work with teachers (in-teams or individually) to refine their knowledge and skills. Methods of instruction may include in-class coaching, peer observation, co-teaching, and modeling effective instruction using a gradual release structure.
• Provide support, mentoring, coaching and training for identified teachers and campus administrators.
• Facilitate training and coaching in areas that include but are not limited to: effective instruction, differentiation, strategies for English Language Learners, data-driven instruction.
• Incorporate questioning and discussion in student learning.
• Incorporate small-group and individual instruction to personalize and tailor instruction to individual needs, including working cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Facilitate protocols for assessment of student work to drive instructional decisions.
• Assist with integration of TEKS into curriculum focal points.
• Coordinate instructional coaching cadre at schools with teacher-coaches.

Student Growth & Development:

• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing to help students with goal setting.

Professional Growth and Development:

• Assist with design and implementation of high-quality building-level professional development, alongside campus leadership team.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required

Communication:

• Establish and maintain open communication by building relationships and communicating regularly with the teachers to establish trust and credibility; and communicate with Frostwood leadership to tailor assistance to individual educators' needs.
• Communicate data driven decisions, purposeful interventions, and student growth and progress to teachers, ILT, and parents.
• Support teachers' communication with parents regarding literacy instructional strategies and progress

Other:

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents as required.

Responsibilities:
None Equipment Used: Computer, ACTIVboard, and various office equipment. Working Conditions:
