  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and engineering drawings. Preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Competent in understanding and following verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to lift, carry, or move objects weighing over 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Knowledge of shop safety procedures and practices.
  • Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate and learn.

About the Role:
The Welder Mechanic I is an entry-level role focused on the repair and maintenance of tank trailers and containers. This position involves hands-on work in various aspects of trailer repair including welding, electrical systems, plumbing, insulation, painting, and general fabrication. While direct supervision is provided, the role requires a foundational understanding of repair techniques and adherence to safety standards.
Candidates must be physically capable of working in environments that involve heights, confined spaces, and exposure to loud noise, fumes, and dust. Work is performed under the guidance of a department supervisor.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the inspection, repair, and service of tank trailers and containers.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs under supervision.
  • Assist in plumbing systems maintenance on trailers.
  • Support framing, insulation, jacketing, suspension, and fifth wheel repairs.
  • Operate MIG/TIG welding equipment to perform basic metal, aluminum, and stainless-steel fabrication tasks.
  • Grind, weld, and patch tanks and containers under supervision.
  • Performing tasks include sandblasting, priming, painting, fender installation, and decal application.
  • Ensure all trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation safety standards.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and according to production timelines.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas; follow all safety procedures.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
