Job description

TransCore (ITS), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I (Generator Service) to join our team in Tampa, Florida.

Summary:
The Generator Service Technician Level (one) is an entry-level role responsible for performing basic shop and field repairs, maintenance services, and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators. A significant portion of this role will involve performing routine oil changes and basic maintenance tasks. Additional responsibilities include work on automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks.

Job Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine oil changes and basic maintenance on generators
  • Assist with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Identify and report common issues with power generation equipment
  • Replace support equipment and request necessary parts for repairs
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites; occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs during regular hours and occasionally after-hours, weekends, or holidays
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services
  • Follow safety regulations and maintain clean and organized work areas, vehicles, and job sites

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of power generation systems and components
  • Willingness to learn generator and transfer switch controls
  • Ability to read and follow schematics and manuals
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; basic electrical knowledge is a plus
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and non-climate-controlled environments
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) throughout the workday
  • Must pass background and drug screening initiated by TransCore; additional screenings may be required for specific projects

Education/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
