Summary:
The RN - Assistant Nurse Manager assists the RN - Nurse Manager/Operations Manager with the operational supervision for specified nursing departments and has 24-hour accountability. This individual assists with interviews and hiring staff for area of responsibility and assists with implementation strategies to retain nursing team members. The Assistant Nurse Manager helps provide leadership and guidance to assure that nursing team members practice within established standards, policies and procedures. Assists with operational management of the department. This individual helps manage staffing resources to provide optimum patient care based on patient's needs and acuity. This individual will participate in the annual budgetary process creation. The Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable for appropriate utilization of personnel and material resources in accordance with budget. The Assistant Nurse Manager supports and promotes Shared Leadership structure. In the absence of a RN, may be required to function in the role of staff RN. Aids to ensure that health system standards of care and policies are consistently observed. Participates in development and maintenance of policy and procedures and is accountable for compliance with all pertinent regulatory standards. As part of the Ballad Health team, the Assistant Nurse Manager is required to participate in Performance Improvement programs. This position will involve the necessity of critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process.
The RN - Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for assisting with the care of the assigned patients. The Assistant Nurse Manager is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules and regulations established by the appropriate state's Board of Nursing, and knowledge of policies and procedures within Ballad Health. The individual demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. The Assistant Nurse Manager works collaboratively with clinical educators and facilitates the implementation of evidence-based practice. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collections, aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality. This commitment to quality results in the assistance of developing and implementing actions plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements
Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program, Bachelor's degree preferred. Nursing program enrollment within 6 months and attainment of Bachelor's degree in nursing to be obtained within 3 years of accepting Assistant Nurse Manager position if entry level education to position is an associate degree.
Minimum two years of clinical licensed nursing experience preferred. One year charge/supervisory/management experience preferred. Equivalent leadership experience in another non-healthcare related role may be acceptable with a minimum of twelve months of experience in a clinical licensed nursing role.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active RN licensure from appropriate state
BLS, ACLS, PALS NRP required dependent upon area
National Professional Nursing certification is desired
