Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that value employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for a Bridge Inspection Engineer, Entry Level to join our team in Columbus.
B&N Bridge Inspection Engineer Responsibilities
  • As part of a team guided by experienced Professional Engineers, inspect conventional and complex bridges, culverts, and structures in Ohio and nationwide
  • Document and report bridge conditions for routine or in-depth bridge inspection assignments using tablets and cameras
  • Learn and/or develop skills to advance your knowledge of the industry based on the Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI)
  • Write reports and perform analysis/load ratings of bridges and culverts working with DOT's, counties and/or municipalities to assess bridge infrastructure
  • Work with DOT's, counties and/or municipalities to assess bridge infrastructure
  • Prepare drawings in MicroStation or AutoCAD to assist with recommendations to clients for rehabilitation or preventative measures

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited program in civil, structural or equivalent engineering
  • EI/EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with bridge inspection, report writing, and/or load rating is a plus
  • NHI/FHWA Inspection and SPRAT Level 1 certifications are desirable
  • Ability and desire to climb large bridge structures, able to withstand high levels of physical exertion including walking, climbing, bending, carrying, and lifting up to 60 lbs. of equipment
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%) throughout the U.S.
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable driving history is required
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is required (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus)
  • BrM & BrR or other Bridge Inspection & Design/Rating software experience are desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Travel arrangements to and from work assignments including airfare, hotel, and meals are reimbursed. All safety training, equipment, tools, and tech are provided.
