Job description

Document Control Spec/import/export/shipping-receiving

24-26.00 an hour w2 contract+ 6 pto days

Entry-level candidates will perform paper audits, edits, filing, assembly of documentation such as reports or technical documents, records, or correspondence. Maintains numerical, alphabetical, chronological and/or subject filing system.

Responsible for file maintenance and record keeping of customs trade documents for imports or exports per CFR 15 and CFR 19.

The entry level candidate/role reports directly to an Export/Import Customs & Trade Compliance Supervisor.

Spotlight Call Notes 8/13:

Role supports trade compliance and focuses on document control/compliance auditing.

Primary responsibility is reviewing and auditing export documentation, including:

·       Airway bills

·       Export filings

·       Trade compliance documents

Requires strong attention to detail when comparing export documents against filing records.

New hire will receive hands-on training from an employee currently performing the process.

Prior trade compliance experience is preferred but not required.

Candidates with some understanding of shipping, export/import processes, or document control will have an advantage.

Experience managing and organizing documentation is important.

Candidates should be familiar with:

·       Microsoft Office applications (required)

·       Adobe Acrobat (including editing/updating PDF documents)

·       SAP (preferred; considered a strong plus)

Experience in receiving, shipping, logistics, import/export, or similar operational environments is beneficial.

Hiring manager noted that candidates without any exposure to shipping or logistics processes may struggle to understand the work.

Understanding of export/import basics, including:

·       Airway bills

·       Filing processes

·       Import/export documentation is highly desirable.

Documentation work comprises approximately:

·       90% saving, organizing, auditing, and uploading files

·       10% gathering documents

Contract is currently expected to be 6 months, with potential extension based on:

·       Business needs

·       Performance

·       Attendance

No specific minimum years of experience required.
