As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Rivian Supply Chain team is seeking a motivated procurement professional to support the realization of Rivian’s engineered products. As a Global Supply Manager, you will focus on executing the fundamental elements of the sourcing lifecycle, including supplier qualification, cost breakdown analysis, and the development of comprehensive selection scorecards. You will work under manager oversight to ensure that all activities align with Rivian’s procurement processes, ensuring that quality, timing, and cost targets are consistently met.

In this role, you will navigate enterprise systems to manage RFIs, RFQs, and purchase orders while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to align on basic technical requirements and budget forecasts. This position is designed for an individual contributor who can identify and communicate risks in a timely manner while supporting the delivery of world-class vehicle programs.

Depending on your skills and experience, this role will report directly to the Group Manager for one of the following areas: Interiors, Seating & Restraints, Exteriors & Lighting, or Closures.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing: Complete initial qualification of suppliers based on a set of defined requirements for one of the following commodity teams; Interiors, Seating & Restraints, Exteriors & Lighting, or Closures. Analyze cost breakdowns, develop scorecards, and complete approval presentations with manager oversight.

  • Technical Understanding: Support team members with supplier prospecting for your assigned commodity. Develop an understanding of the sourcing process and broader supplier market.
  • Negotiations: Participate in negotiation preparation by providing appropriate data and insight with manager oversight. Understand standard commercial terms applicable to your assigned commodity.
  • Supplier Management: Work to extract information to drive cost transparency and breakdown with suppliers. Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding NDAs, POs, and contracts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders while managing expectations. Understand basic technical requirements and associated tradeoffs for your assigned commodity.
  • Project Management & Risk Mitigation: Participate as a team member on projects, providing support to achieve project KPIs. Identify and communicate risks in a timely manner within a clearly defined scope.

Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of direct procurement experience.
  • Domain Expertise: Fundamental understanding of the procurement lifecycle and factors of impact including economic, political, and technology landscapes.
  • Commodity-Specific Experience: While prior experience with automotive commodities (such as Interiors, Exteriors, Closures, or Seating) is highly preferred, it is not required. This is an entry-level opportunity, and we welcome motivated candidates who are eager to learn and grow within the automotive industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in navigating SAP, Basecamp, and RFI/RFQ processes.
