At Matrix PDM we strive to recruit, hire and develop high caliber Drafter graduates for our internship program. The purpose of this program is to provide practical experience to top drafting/design students while identifying individuals with the ambition and talent to join the Matrix PDM team.

The internship program is approximately 12 weeks in length reserved for final year students seeking experience. Internships are required prior to full time employment regardless of the individual’s secondary education institutes requirements for graduation.

Interns will assist Matrix PDM’s in-house drafting and design team while gaining insight into the industrial construction industry with a focus on detailed tank design.

Job Summary

The Drafter Intern is responsible for providing basic drafting support including running programs, basic design calculations, layouts, and completing standard drawings, as required. Interns will be exposed to atmospheric tank design, cryogenic tank design, and design associated with modifications to existing tanks.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
  • Actively participate in training.
  • Research and find solutions to assigned tasks and projects
  • Exhibit ability to understand written documentation and procedures and produce layouts and drawings using those directions.
  • Assist drafting staff with assignments.
  • Produce new drawings.
  • Perform basic layouts.
  • Correct existing drawings from check prints. Performs additional assignments related to assigned discipline, as directed.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Student pursuing a degree in COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN OR DRAFTING (or recently graduated)
  • Entry-level; no experience required
  • Experience in AutoCAD, CAD Worx, and/or Inventor preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards preferred
  • Knowledge of detailed equipment design preferred
  • General computer knowledge and skills
  • Basic understanding of general math and trigonometry functions
  • Ability to effectively work within a team
  • High motivation and curiosity
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach and consistently positive demeanor.
  • GPA 3.0 or greater
