Job Description:

Technical Publications is a unified team of professionals committed to providing quality and timely publication deliverables for commercial and government projects in a dynamic environment. Team members are responsible for gathering, composing, and editing technical information to prepare flight manuals, maintenance manuals, and other technical documentation for our warfighters.

Essential Functions:

  • Prior experience authoring Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), technical maintenance manuals, Flight Operation Manuals, and in an S1000D environment for Air Force programs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirements specifications, software interface control documents, test procedures.
  • Conduct interviews with engineering personnel to ensure the technical documentation is precise, comprehensive, and meets professional/MIL standards.
  • Works under moderate supervision. Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects or assignments. Sets objectives for own job area to meet the goals of projects and assignments. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support level employees. Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate orally and in written form.
  • Must be able to work well with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
  • Must be able to work within and potentially lead defined budgets and meet schedule deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills with solid understanding of MS Office Suite and applications.
  • Familiarity with S1000D Standard, Webex authoring, and Localized CSDB desired.
  • Familiarity with engineering development, testing, and planning processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with two (2) years of technical publication authoring experience within structured authoring environments to include unstructured and/or Structured FrameMaker experience.
  • Graduate Degree with zero (0) to two (2) years of technical publication authoring experience within structured authoring environments to include unstructured and/or Structured FrameMaker experience.
  • In Lieu of a degree, minimum of six (6) years of technical publication authoring experience within structured authoring environments to include unstructured and/or Structured FrameMaker experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
