Heritage Auctions is a leading auction house specializing in high-value collectibles, including iconic costumes from movies and television shows. We pride ourselves on preserving and showcasing these culturally significant items for collectors and enthusiasts. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, entry-level Costume Assistant to join our team and assist in preparing and presenting costumes for auction.


SUMMARY: As an Entry-Level Costume Assistant, you will support the team in preparing costumes for photography. This role requires a keen eye for detail, with responsibilities including dressing and undressing mannequins, preparing costumes for display, and assisting with presentation. You will work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks to ensure that auction items are showcased effectively.

LOCATION:
South of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, NW corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane


COMPENSATION:
Commensurate based on experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Costume Styling: Assist in dressing and undressing mannequins and preparing costumes for photography and auction displays. Ensure items are presented with accuracy and visual appeal.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the auction production team to understand photography requirements and assist with setup, including moving mannequins on and off the photo set as needed for styling and photography sessions.
  • Presentation: Help set up displays that highlight the unique features of each costume.
  • Maintenance and Care: Steam and prepare costumes to be presentable for photos, ensure proper storage and keep items in good condition.
  • Physical Tasks: Assist with moving and handling costumes or supplies throughout the warehouse, including lifting and arranging items weighing from 0-50 pounds. Use ladders and work on your feet most of the day.
  • Flexibility: Work varied hours and days, including long hours and some weekends, as needed to meet production deadlines.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the production team or management.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma required
  • Basic understanding of costume design principles and fashion history is a plus but not required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, and moving items throughout the warehouse.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently stands, walks, observes, bends, and pushes.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for most of the day, use ladders, and move or handle merchandise or supplies throughout the warehouse (generally weighing from 0-50 pounds).
  • Work varied hours and days to meet production deadlines.
  • The environment is fast-paced, and indoor temperature conditions may vary.
