$62.22/hour | Paid Weekly | Temp/On-Call | Guaranteed 4-Hour Minimum

Openwork, in partnership with Harris County, is seeking experienced and certified Substitute Court Reporters to provide essential courtroom support. This is a great opportunity for professionals who are detail-oriented, highly accurate, and passionate about maintaining the integrity of the judicial record.

As a Substitute Court Reporter, you will be responsible for capturing and transcribing legal proceedings with precision and professionalism. This role is ideal for individuals who value flexibility, enjoy working in fast-paced legal environments, and bring a high level of discretion to their work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately record spoken dialogue using shorthand and transcription tools
  • Transcribe shorthand notes into well-formatted, grammatically correct documents
  • Read back the official record when requested during proceedings
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold courtroom standards
  • Keep shorthand dictionaries and reference materials up to date
Qualifications:
  • Certified Shorthand Reporter or equivalent credential
