Job Description
The Road Commission for Oakland County is the largest county road agency in the state. To provide safe travel throughout the county, we require talented Civil Engineers in the following areas of speciality:
  • Road Design Engineering, which includes new roads, expansion of roads, reconstruction of roads, etc.
  • Road Construction Engineering, which includes building of new roads, expansion of roads, etc.
  • Permit Engineering, which includes a partnership with development throughout the county.
  • Traffic Safety Engineering, which includes traffic signage, pavement markings, etc.
  • Signal Systems Engineering, which includes the traffic flow, traffic signal coordination, etc.
  • Road and Highway Maintenance, which includes all measures to maintain and prolong the life of the road, including spot resurfacing, overlays, slab replacement, etc.

We have positions for a range of engineering talent, from recent college graduates to veteran engineering management, with several levels in between.
Some of the positions within this range fall within a collective bargaining unit. Any person holding a position that is defined as a position within a collective bargaining unit will be subject to the terms and conditions of the existing collective bargaining agreement.
Our positions have entry level pay ranges of $68,000.00 through $120,000.00, commensurate with experience. Additional compensation is available with overtime and upon obtaining a Professional Engineer License.
