The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted.
Band One (I): Entry Level Radiologic Technologist - Technologists new to URMC Imaging Department who require training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. During this period the Technologists must demonstrate an ability to progress towards proficient and competent performance of required tasks of a Radiologic Technologist. Success within this band requires independent responsibility for performing general section studies in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work while providing high quality images for radiologist interpretation.
To be eligible for advancement consideration, technologist must be in good standing. Readiness for movement in the bands is assessed by the General X-Ray manager and supervisor upon successful demonstration of knowledge and task proficiency as defined in the career ladder. Movement to a higher band is based on departmental need requires final approval from the Imaging Sciences Clinical Director of Operations in collaboration with Human Resources.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares room and patient per order, properly sets up equipment, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors in order to produce a high quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required. Maintains current NYS licensure and ARRT certification with CE credits as required.
