Bartlett Regional Hospital is searching for a Fiscal Technician to join our Physician Office Admin team!

Pay Information:Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms. External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.
  • Fiscal Tech 1 starts at $20.47 per hour.
  • Fiscal Tech 2 starts at $22.40 per hour.
  • Fiscal Tech 3 starts at $23.52 per hour.

Job Summary:

FT 1:  This is an entry-level position in the Fiscal Technician series. It is designed to introduce staff to hospital billing procedures, standards, and collections policies. The Fiscal Technician 1 receives training in at least one specialty insurance and supports a variety of routine patient accounting tasks under close supervision.

FT 2:  This is the intermediate-level position in the series. The Fiscal Technician 2 performs accounts receivable and billing functions across multiple specialties and insurance types, with growing independence. The incumbent applies working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier coding rules, and processing claims with minimal supervision.

FT 3:  This is the advanced, journey-level role in the Fiscal Technician series. The Fiscal Technician 3 serves as the billing subject matter expert for all providers in assigned areas. They manage end-to-end billing, coding accuracy, appeals, patient accounts, and financial coordination across multiple insurance types. The position also plays a key role in staff training, policy updates, and billing process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

FT 1:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in customer service, data entry, or basic clerical/accounting support.

    • Preferred Experience: Previous billing experience preferred

  • Certification(s): None
  • License(s): None

FT 2:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience in medical billing, insurance collections, or patient accounting

    • Substitution: Six (6) months as a FT1 at BRH or associate's degree in accounting/ finance

      • Preferred Experience: Previous clerical or customer service preferred

  • Certification(s): None
  • License(s): None

FT 3:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Three (3) years' experience in medical billing, insurance collections, or patient accounting

    • Substitution: One (1) year as a FT2 at BRH

      • Preferred Experience: Previous hospital billing, collections, accounting preferred

  • Certification: None
  • License(s): None

PreferencesPreference can be given to any applicant who qualifies for Fiscal Tech 3.  If no applicants qualify for Fiscal Tech 3, preference may be given to any applicant who qualifies for Fiscal Tech 2. Practice Notices:All new employees are required to produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to start of employment.Employment Type: Part time
