Job description

Position Highlights
As a Data Analyst II within the Enterprise Data & Analytics team, you will play a key role in advancing the university's data-informed culture by supporting strategic and operational analytics initiatives. In this position, you will work across the full data lifecycle, including data acquisition, validation, transformation, analysis, reporting, and visualization to deliver actionable insights for campus partners.
Partnering with stakeholders across the university, you will translate business needs into meaningful data products, dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions that support institutional effectiveness and strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for a curious, collaborative professional who is passionate about leveraging data to solve complex problems, uncover opportunities, and tell compelling stories through analytics.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with weekly on-campus presence required.
Enterprise Data & Analytics
The Enterprise Data & Analytics team is dedicated to connecting people, data, and technology to deliver trusted insights that empower informed decision-making across the university. Through modern data management, analytics, reporting, and governance practices, the team supports institutional priorities and advances the university's strategic goals.
Working collaboratively with partners across campus, the department develops and maintains data solutions that enhance transparency, improve operational effectiveness, and enable evidence-based planning and decision-making. The team is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and responsible data stewardship in support of the university's mission.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identifies and assesses requirements to develop data files and reports using query tools
  • Monitors and coordinates mass data uploads and exports. Maintains databases for tracking information. Consolidates data from multiple sources, interprets data, and generates ongoing reports
  • Troubleshoots processing errors and makes changes /corrections independently. Assists in developing new processes to respond to issues that deviate from standard operating procedures
  • Supports, designs, develops, and/or maintains studies, presentations, analytics, reports, and dashboards that support institutional goals, planning, and strategic decision making
  • Aggregates, manipulates, and analyzes large data structures. Summarizes and communicates information using a variety of graphical and tabular formats and media
  • Creates and maintains data files in accordance with RIT information security standards and data management best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and best practices for creating dashboards and interactive reports
  • Knowledge of database systems and query languages for data manipulation and retrieval
  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting large, complex datasets to generate actionable insights
  • Skill in consulting with stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver tailored analytics solutions
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate findings effectively through well-structured visuals and narratives tailored to target audiences

Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience & education may be considered
