Job Description
Position Overview:
BAE Systems is offering a 24-week SkillBridge opportunity within Corporate Collections designed for transitioning active-duty service members. This structured training experience provides hands-on development in accounts receivable and collections activities within a corporate finance environment.
Participants will gain foundational knowledge of the collections lifecycle, customer account management, aging analysis, payment follow-up, dispute resolution, cash application coordination, and financial systems used to support collection efforts. Training will progress from foundational instruction to supervised application and ultimately to independent support of assigned collections activities under close mentorship.
Completion of this internship prepares the participant for potential transition into a full-time corporate collections role, contingent upon business needs and performance.
Key Learning Areas:
• Overview of the accounts receivable and collections lifecycle
• Customer account review and aging analysis
• Collection follow-up processes and documentation
• Coordination of payment status, unapplied cash, and open receivables
• Research and resolution of billing or payment discrepancies
• System navigation and reporting
• Internal controls, compliance, and documentation standards
• Cross-functional coordination with Billing, Program Finance, Contracts, and Accounting
Program Structure:
This internship follows a structured 24-week training plan consisting of defined modules, supervised collections activities, system-based learning, and progressively increasing responsibility in a live corporate finance environment.
Important Notice:
Participation in this SkillBridge internship does not guarantee employment. Completion of the training plan may position the participant for consideration for full-time opportunities based on performance and business needs.
Required Skills and Education
Must be an active-duty service member of the U.S. Armed Forces
• Must be within 180 days of separation or retirement from active duty at the start of the internship
• Must receive command approval to participate in the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program
• Must remain on active-duty status and continue to receive military pay and benefits during participation
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required system access
No prior collections or accounting experience is required. Structured training will be provided throughout the internship.
