Job description

Salary:

Tri-City Technologies is hiring an experienced Technician to install, commission, and service IP-based video surveillance and electronic access control systems across our growing project portfolio in Eastern Iowa. This is a hands-on field role for a tech who already knows the work not an entry-level position.


What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Mounting, configuring, and commissioning IP cameras across enterprise VMS platforms (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, and others)
  • Installing and programming access control panels, readers, locks, and door hardware across leading platforms (Genetec, Motorola, Acre, Brivo, AMAG, and more)
  • Performing server-side system programming and configuration on VMS and access control servers, including basic system administration task.
  • System commissioning, end-user training, and turnover documentation
  • Service calls and system troubleshooting on existing customer sites
  • Working from drawings, BOMs, and submittals and flagging issues before they become problems in the field
  • Supporting security cable installation and testing as the work requires


What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on field experience installing and commissioning IP-based video surveillance and electronic access control systems (we'll consider strong candidates with less if the foundation is there)
  • Working knowledge of network fundamentals IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, switch configuration basics
  • Comfortable navigating Windows and Sequel Server environments and applying basic cybersecurity practices hardening, account management, patching awareness, and working within customer IT/security policies
  • Comfortable terminating category and security cable to industry standards
  • Able to read and work from construction drawings and submittals
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • BICSI INST1, INST2, or ESS credentials are a plus but not required we support certification growth
  • Manufacturer certifications (Genetec TSE, Milestone MCT, Avigilon, Lenel, Software House, etc.) strongly preferred


This Role Is NOT For:

  • Candidates without hands-on field experience installing the systems listed above
  • Anyone uncomfortable working independently on customer sites
