Job description

Food & Paper Supply, an established food and paper distributor located in the south suburbs of Chicago (Alsip), is seeking a Customer Service Representative.  The Customer Service Representative will interact with our customers by addressing inquiries and resolving problems in a positive, energetic manner. This person should have the ability to work well under pressure, independently and be a team player. 
Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers via telephone, email, or in person to provide support and information on products or services.
  • Collect and enter orders for new or additional products or services.
  • Fields customer questions and problems; when the issue is beyond the representative’s knowledge, forwards to the assigned specialist or other appropriate staff.
  • Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customers’ issues and concerns.
  • Maintains customer accounts and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.
Technical Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six months of experience in retail or customer service preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Spanish speaking skills are preferred.
