Outside Sales Representative in Training

Kamas/Heber, Utah

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, coachable, and driven Outside Sales Representative in Training (SIT) to join our team. This entry-level sales development role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn the fundamentals of outside sales, build strong customer relationships, and grow into a successful territory sales professional.

Through structured training, hands-on experience, and ongoing mentorship, the SIT will develop the skills needed to generate leads, close sales, and manage customer accounts. This role provides a clear career path into a full-time Outside Sales Representative position.

 

Key Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Participate in a structured training program focused on products, systems, and sales processes
  • Learn company operations, customer service standards, and internal workflows
  • Shadow experienced sales representatives to gain real-world experience

Sales Support (Year 1 Focus)

  • Assist with preparing bids, quotes, and proposals
  • Process customer orders and ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Support account management activities and customer follow-up
  • Develop proficiency in ERP/CRM systems and product offerings

Customer Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with customers through responsiveness and communication
  • Observe and assist in customer visits, job site interactions, and sales calls
  • Provide exceptional service to support customer retention and growth

Transition to Outside Sales

  • Gradually take on responsibility for managing accounts and a sales territory
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales goals
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or related field plus 0 - 2 years related industry operations / sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong desire to build a career in outside sales
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and competitive mindset
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM/ERP systems is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally
