What is an entry level creative technologist?

Entry level creative technologists are professionals who combine technical skills, such as coding and digital design, with creative problem-solving to develop innovative digital experiences. They often work on interactive media, websites, apps, or installations, collaborating closely with designers, developers, and strategists. In an entry-level role, they typically assist with prototyping, experimenting with new technologies, and supporting senior team members on creative projects. This position is ideal for those who have a background in both technology and the arts, and are eager to bridge the gap between creative ideas and technical execution.

How does an entry level creative technologist typically collaborate with designers and developers on project teams?

As an Entry Level Creative Technologist, you’ll often act as a bridge between design and development teams. You’ll work closely with designers to translate creative concepts into interactive prototypes or digital experiences, ensuring that technical feasibility is considered from the outset. Collaboration with developers is frequent, as you’ll help implement front-end features or experiment with new technologies to enhance user experience. Open communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from both sides are key to thriving in this collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level creative technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Creative Technologist, you need a foundational understanding of digital design, programming (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and a relevant degree or portfolio demonstrating creative problem-solving skills. Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping platforms (e.g., Figma or Sketch), and basic web development frameworks is typically expected. Standout candidates possess strong communication, adaptability, and collaboration skills to bridge the gap between creative and technical teams. These abilities are essential for developing innovative digital experiences that align with both user needs and technical possibilities.

What you will do:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports and dashboards that track business, marketing, and operational performance against established goals.
  • Analyze trends in customer, campaign, and market data, and summarize findings in short written briefs for managers and project leads.
  • Support market and competitor research, including sizing opportunities, profiling target segments, and documenting relevant industry developments.
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting inputs, and variance summaries in partnership with finance and operations staff.
  • Build clear charts, tables, and slides that make complex information easy for non-technical audiences to understand.
  • Document processes, maintain data definitions, and recommend simple improvements that reduce manual effort in recurring reporting.
  • Participate in team meetings and client reviews, taking notes, tracking follow-up items, and confirming that action items are completed on schedule.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, economics, finance, statistics, analytics, or a closely related field.
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience; internships, co-ops, campus consulting projects, and relevant coursework count.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams for day-to-day documentation and collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings plainly to people outside the analytics function.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment with sensitive information, and the ability to manage several assignments at once.
How will you wow us:
  • Exposure to a business intelligence or visualization tool such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R for querying and summarizing data sets.
  • Coursework or internship experience in marketing analytics, digital campaign measurement, CRM platforms, or web analytics.
  • Interest in government, technology, or professional services markets.
