Job description

Turner Staffing Group is seeking an Underground Ore Control Geologist to support a world-class gold mining operation in the Elko, Nevada area. This role is primarily focused on ore control activities, including underground geologic mapping, muck routing, grade control support, drill core and reverse circulation (RC) logging, and sample management. The successful candidate will work closely with mine operations to ensure accurate geological interpretation and ore delineation while supporting safe and efficient production.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career geologist to gain hands-on experience in underground gold mining and ore control while working alongside industry-leading professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct underground geologic mapping to support ore control and production activities.
  • Perform muck routing and provide geological guidance for material classification.
  • Assist with grade control programs and ore/waste boundary identification.
  • Log diamond drill core and reverse circulation (RC) drill cuttings.
  • Collect, organize, track, and manage geological samples and assay submissions.
  • Maintain accurate geological databases, maps, and production records.
  • Collaborate with mine operations, engineering, and technical services personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Support exploration, resource definition, and production geology initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related earth science discipline.
  • Strong understanding of geological mapping, sampling, and logging techniques.
  • Ability to work in an underground mining environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and data management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Minimum one (1) year of underground geology or ore control experience preferred.
  • Experience in underground gold mining operations strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with grade control practices, ore delineation, and production geology.
  • Experience with geological database management and logging software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work underground in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, and navigate active mining areas.
  • Ability to lift and move geological samples and core boxes as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
