Job Description
We are currently seeking a CNC Machinist/Machine Operator for a unique opportunity on our manufacturing team in Appleton, WI. Our shop is not your typical machine shop. As a CNC Machinist/Machine Operator, you will be an integral part of a successful team and will be responsible for operating the vertical turning centers that produce specialized products and components for the aerospace industry. In this role, you will be able to work with new state-of-the art equipment in a safe, clean, air and climate-controlled environment.
This is a 2 nd shift position Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-12:30am. This position also includes an additional $1/hour shift differential for hours worked on 2 nd shift. Training may be conducted on day shift Monday-Thursday.
A successful CNC Machinist/Machine Operator is a problem solver, safety-focused and understands the importance of precision and quality. To be successful, you must learn ATI, our products, customers and procedures and work collaboratively with other CNC Machinists and cross-functional teams to ensure product is manufactured to quality and customer specifications. We will train a motivated, mechanically inclined candidate!
Responsibilities
  • Receives work instructions, operation sheets, setup sheets, 1st piece and in-process check sheets from department supervision indicating the operations to be performed
  • Reads and interprets dimension drawings, sketches, tool setup sheets and manufacturing instructions for performing required machining operation and setups
  • Uses operational drawings to determine required dimensions, travels and tolerance to be maintained
  • Oversees and controls the operation of machining centers in the machining of forgings made from various types of super alloys with full support of the engineering and programming departments
  • Uses precision or standard measuring devices that are completely furnished by the company, such as scales, inside and outside micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier scales, fixed frame gauges or special gauges and profilometers to check machined dimensions and surface finishes conforming to customer prints and/or specifications
  • Loads and unloads pieces using an overhead hoist
  • Exercises care in handling material before and after the machining operation.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or Associate degree in electrical, mechanical or another related curriculum.

  • Strong knowledge of basic machining principles
  • Basic reading, math and measurement comprehension; the ability to read instructions and perform simple measurements is critical
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a high-performing team
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and implement long-term solutions
  • Strong attention to details and highly organized
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment evaluation.
