PEKO is a full-service, debt-free, privately-owned contract manufacturer with over 50 years embedded in the Rochester, NY community. In collaboration with our valued business partners, we deliver new product development (NPI) strategies for product commercialization and provide solutions in the medical, industrial, defense, and renewable energy industries. The Opportunity: Electrical Engineer
Your Role: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for machine control hardware and software design, procurement of components, startup, debugging, calibration and verification. This individual will assist with the designing of electrical power and control systems for industrial and commercial equipment used in medical, pharmaceutical, alternative energy, semi-conductor and other industries. They will be supporting the NPI (New Product Introduction) group in the development of new product design and introduction, functional specifications, technical design, automated assembly, development and testing within PEKO and for our customers.
Essential Functions:
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain PLC software for various applications, including automation, process control, and robotics.
  • Assist in creating specifications, critical parameters and statement of work.
  • Apply knowledge in electrical power transmission, controls systems, programing, wiring/panel design, automation for design and development.
  • Conduct thorough electrical testing and troubleshooting to ensure system functionality and reliability.
  • Utilize problem solving and creative thinking skills to develop solutions and implement design options with customers, suppliers and manufacturing, while working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and technicians to integrate electrical systems into complete electromechanical assemblies.
  • Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept and design to manufacturing, testing, and installation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in electromechanical hardware and software design and development.
  • Understanding of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Familiarity with electrical schematic design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with component selection and sizing for electrical systems (e.g.relays, circuit breakers, wire sizing, power supply sizing).
  • Knowledge of text-based languages; C, Java, Python a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practices for industrial controls, working knowledge of NFPA/NEC code for electrical system design.

A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
