Reports in Office, 5 days a week Location: Rochester, NY
The salary range for this position is dependent on location and experience level ranging from $100,000 - $120,500

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides support for the AVANGRID Energy Control Systems (ECS) used to operate electric transmission and distribution systems (EMS/SCADA/ADMS/OMS and Back Office based platforms.
Defines, implements and maintains supervisory control and data acquisition databases and definitions and maintains telemetry data and evaluates accurate information in the Electric Management System (EMS).
Supports the specification, design, testing, implementation and development of the EMS to ensure that changing functional requirements are met.
Design enhancements to the ECS to improve the user interfaces.
Provides leadership with the SCADA/ECS Team on projects, training, and commissioning duties assigned and managed by ECS
Coordinate the safe and orderly commissioning of new and redesigned intelligent electronic devices and instrumentation as well as other systems and components in substations and other interconnecting facilities
Monitors and ensures that systems and components are designed, installed, tested operated and maintained according to operational requirements and standards for safety and reliability
Documents commissioning procedures, provides operational assistance and troubleshooting
Analyzes key power system data to ensure that the bulk electric system can operate in a safe, reliable, and coordinated manner in accordance with ISO/RTO operating principles and standards
Works within the Control Center environment and supports Cyber Security requirements for Control Center operations. Maintains and creates documentation for supported platforms and systems to meet all regulatory requirements/standards
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience Required:
  • 5-7 Years technically related experience
  • Applied Science Degree (Engineering preferred) 7+ years technical experience
  • BS Degree (Electrical Engineering preferred) 5+ years technical experience
  • MS Degree (Electrical Engineering preferred) 1+ years technical experience

Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
โ€ข Understanding of relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies (NERC-CIP, etc)
โ€ข Able to evaluate accuracy of the information in the Control System under supervision.
โ€ข Understanding of the NERC-CIP ECS/ECC requirements
โ€ข Understanding and knowledge of databases (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, etc)
โ€ข How to query, configure and edit
โ€ข Understanding of network diagrams, firewall rules, ports and services
โ€ข Working knowledge of PHMSA control room management requirements
โ€ข Knowledge of Gas Measurement fundamentals
โ€ข Ability to create a script or small compiled application
