During the internship, they gain hands-on experience with control theory, programming of controllers (like PLCs or DCS), and instrumentation. They typically work under the supervision of senior engineers to learn industry standards, troubleshoot systems, and contribute to project tasks. This role is designed to provide practical experience and prepare interns for a full-time engineering career.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an internship control systems engineer expect to be assigned during their internship?

As an Internship Control Systems Engineer, you can expect to work on tasks such as assisting with the design and simulation of control algorithms, supporting system integration activities, and performing testing on control hardware and software. Interns often collaborate closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot issues, document results, and implement improvements. These projects provide hands-on experience with tools like MATLAB, Simulink, or PLC programming, helping you build foundational skills and gain insight into real-world control engineering challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship control systems engineer, and why are they important?
