Entry Level Control Engineer Jobs in New York (NOW HIRING)

NLS in the typical Construction Manager as Agent role is responsible for Preconstruction Value Engineering, Purchasing, Construction, Commissioning and Turnover. This is a very special position in the company, whereby we rigorously train you in a Project Controls "academy" that focuses on scheduling, cost engineering, analytics, and understanding all construction management operations on the jobsites. You start out in the main office in Manhattan for several months under the direct guidance of our Project Controls Director, then move on to build one of our new high-rise buildings throughout NYC, whereby you become a crucial part of the project team in charge of all matters related to cost and scheduling. However, you are not stuck with this project controls role on your next project unless you enjoy these highly technical skills rather than pursuing a more conventional path of managing projects and subcontractors. The two career paths do not contradict; in fact, your advanced training and experience in cost engineering and scheduling make you a very strong project manager who is favorably poised to take on a great leadership position in the future.

- Full-time, entry-level position in the Construction Manager's Project Controls department on scheduling, cost, and quality control assignments related to the construction management of open-shop, high-rise building projects in NYC

- No prior experience in scheduling and cost control is required; training will be provided

- Update project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.

- Assist with construction financials and cost control, using Procore software (budget reports, change orders, etc.)

- NEW: assist with the Procore Analytics software, which is based on Microsoft PowerBI. Disseminate the information to the project teams and help build custom dashboards.

- Generate monthly cash flow reports

- Assist in managing the punch lists, inspections, and observations, and with the quality management program in general

- Contribute in the editing of the company's project management written procedures (we use a collaborative software online)

- Train the company employees on project management, quality control, and construction financials software and procedures

- Knowledge of the following software is a plus: Excel macros, PowerBI, Visual Basic, SQL, Primavera P6, Procore, SYNCHRO, Navisworks, Bluebeam

- Enrolled in a Master's degree program in engineering or science is a plus.

- Knowledge of lean planning and process optimization (ex. Six Sigma) is a plus.

- The perfect candidate would have the following characteristics: pursuing a project management career in the construction industry; holds an engineering or math degree with a high GPA; great analytical skills with attention to detail; communicates well; and comfortable interacting with and training others.
