This role is essential in keeping our community clean, healthy, and beautiful.

About the Role: As a Heavy Equipment Operator (Residential), you'll: Operate automated collection vehicles and knuckle boom trucks to collect approximately 1,000 containers daily. Support other residential crews with yard waste and bulk item collection as needed. Respond to emergency assignments such as snow removal, storm cleanup, or other weather-related events-sometimes with little notice.

Navigate city routes using maps or GPS and communicate effectively via two-way radio. Complete daily surveys, vehicle inspections, and service reports with accuracy. Demonstrate excellent customer service while representing the City with professionalism and respect.

Perform physically active work, including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA. Potential Career Path: This entry-level role is a great foundation for a long-term career with the City of Greensboro.
