Job description

Job Title: Estimator

Location: Mobile, AL


Position Summary:

Seeking a motivated Estimator to join our Civil Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering or Construction Management graduate, or an early-career professional looking to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction. The Estimator will work closely with senior leadership and operations to prepare competitive bids, develop project budgets, and support successful project execution from preconstruction through award.

Responsibilities:

  • Review construction plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Assist in preparing accurate and competitive bid proposals.
  • Support the estimating team in developing project pricing and bid packages.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets following contract award.
  • Coordinate with customers to ensure contract documents are complete and finalized.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to coordinate subcontractor approvals and procurement activities.
  • Assist with purchasing and tracking project materials.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, and cost databases.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, project meetings, networking events, and business development activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of estimating and project management functions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Recent graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship or co-op experience in construction or estimating is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
