Junior Estimator – ConstructionJob Summary

Client seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our Estimating team. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in construction estimating while working closely with Senior Estimators and project teams. The successful candidate will assist with quantity takeoffs, blueprint analysis, vendor coordination, and bid preparation to support accurate and competitive project proposals.

This role offers hands-on experience across the complete bidding lifecycle and serves as a strong foundation for a career path in construction management, estimating, or project engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material measurements from architectural, structural, and engineering drawings using industry-standard software.
  • Review and interpret project blueprints, specifications, scopes of work, and Request for Information (RFI) documents to understand project requirements.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates by analyzing labor, material, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Request, collect, and organize pricing from suppliers and subcontractors through email, phone calls, and bid management platforms.
  • Review subcontractor quotes, identify scope gaps or discrepancies, and prepare bid comparison summaries for Senior Estimators.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, including material costs, vendor information, and historical bid records.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals, estimates, and project documentation.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs to gather information and document existing conditions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the estimating process.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent construction experience or relevant field experience will also be considered.
Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of construction estimating principles and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with estimating tools such as Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Excel, or similar construction software.
