Job description

Job Title: Construction Engineering Intern

Duration: Approximately 6-12 months

Location: Arizona


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties represent the essential functions of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required.

• Manage the full construction project lifecycle, from initial project planning phases through completion of construction.

• Meet with clients, architects, engineers, and other design personnel to establish project plans, budgets, and schedules.

• Coordinate construction project resources and track project progress against established timelines and schedules.

• Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.

• Act as a liaison between the client and project team members regarding changes or problems.

• Select, negotiate with, and coordinate the work of vendors, contractors, or sub-contractors.

• Responsible for material management and delivery scheduling tasks in support of assigned projects.

• Track project progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators and prepare and deliver reports to management.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Business, or a related field preferred.

• Internship, co-op, academic project, or entry-level experience in construction, project coordination, operations, or related environments preferred.

• Exposure to team-based academic, internship, construction, or project environments preferred.

• Basic understanding of construction processes, project coordination, scheduling, safety practices, or project documentation preferred.

• Participation in internships, academic projects, student organizations, or related project-based environments preferred.

• Experience managing multiple assignments, deadlines, and coordinated project activities in academic or professional environments preferred.

• Experience communicating professionally with team members, vendors, contractors, clients, or project stakeholders preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn project management and construction software platforms.

• Effective English verbal and written communication skills for supporting project coordination, reporting, and team collaboration.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Collaborative approach to working within team-oriented construction and project environments.

• Position may require travel to project sites based on business and operational requirements.

Movement between office areas, meeting spaces, training environments, and occasional construction site locations throughout the workday.

•Occasional walking across active construction sites, including uneven ground, gravel, dirt, mud, unfinished concrete, inclines, and outdoor terrain during training or project support activities.

•Occasional climbing of stairs or temporary access structures during supervised site visits or project observation activities.

•Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, and positioning during project support, inspections, or training-related activities.

•Extended periods in stationary positions while attending meetings, reviewing documentation, completing training activities, or operating office equipment.

•Frequent use of computers, tablets, keyboards, mobile devices, and communication equipment for project coordination, reporting, and administrative support.

•Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials, equipment, or supplies up to 25 pounds.

•Use of required personal protective equipment while present on active construction sites.

•Exposure to office environments as well as occasional active construction environments, including noise, dust, outdoor weather conditions, and unfinished structures.

•Work schedules may vary based on project coordination, training activities, and operational requirements.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Junior Construction Project Manager position operates in a combination of office, field, and active construction site environments. This role routinely requires oversight of multiple construction projects and interaction with employees, contractors, vendors, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Working conditions may include:

•Frequent exposure to active construction sites, including uneven terrain, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, and varying weather conditions.

•Exposure to outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and sunlight.

•Occasional exposure to construction-related hazards including electrical systems, heavy machinery, power tools, and airborne particles.

•Work may occur in partially completed structures or areas under active construction.
