Job Title: Field Engineer – Ground-up Multifamily

Location: Tysons, VA / Washington, D.C. Metro Area
Reports To: Superintendent / Project Engineer

Position Summary

The Field Engineer supports the successful on-site execution of ground-up multifamily projects. This entry-level role bridges technical design intent with field implementation, assisting the Superintendent and Project Engineer in layout, coordination, quality assurance, and documentation. The Field Engineer is critical to ensuring that all work meets Bognet’s standards for safety, precision, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Field Coordination & Layout

  • Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day field operations on ground-up multifamily projects (Condo’s & Townhomes).
  • Verify layout accuracy with subcontractors for partitions, MEP systems, ceilings, and finishes.
  • Continuously monitor and maintain as-built conditions for accuracy and documentation.

Project Documentation & Communication

  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Support RFI, submittal, and change order documentation as required.
  • Maintain daily reports, field logs, and progress photos.
  • Track work progress and report updates to the project team.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, staging, and logistics with subcontractors.
  • Ensure the latest drawings and documents are distributed to all field teams.

Quality, Safety, and Schedule Support

  • Perform regular quality control inspections of framing, finishes, and MEP rough-ins.
  • Assist with punch list management and closeout documentation.
  • Promote a safe and organized worksite; participate in safety walks and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor adherence to project schedules and proactively identify potential conflicts or delays.
  • Observe and enforce safety requirements, site security, and Bognet Corporate Safety Program

Technical and Analytical Support

  • Perform quantity takeoffs, layout computations, and field verifications.
  • Utilize project management and field software (Procore).
  • Read and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify potential conflicts early.
  • Support testing, inspections, and commissioning of interior systems as needed.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. An Associate/BS degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in construction, design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
  • Familiarity with construction layout, surveying, and measurement tools (total station, laser level).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and construction management software (Procore)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Desire/interest in career in Site Operations management
  • OHSA 10 preferred or must attain within 3 months of employment

Requirements for promotion to Assistant Superintendent:

  • Candidates must spend at least 24 months on-site as Field Engineer prior to promoting to Assistant Superintendent position
