The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level or AssociateEquipment & Tool Designer Technician - Additive Manufacturing and Prototyping in Tukwila, WA.
In this role, you will oversee the full life cycle of printing and post-processing additive manufactured parts, from initial design to final quality assurance. You will provide technical support for engineering changes, investigate and develop basic to moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts, participate in design reviews, create and revise drawings and models to support the build plan. Utilizing multiple technologies across both additive and traditional fabrication methods, you will perform self-checks of designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
Additionally, you will maintain hardware and software configurations and assist in user training development. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring efficient and high-quality additive manufacturing processes for aerospace products.
Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Design & fabrication of additive manufactured prototypes and developmental parts, from initial concept to final product
  • Operate a variety of additive manufacturing equipment. Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Stereolithography (SLA), PolyJet, Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) & Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)
  • Create operation and quality documents for multiple Additive manufacturing (AM) processes
  • Use of hand and manual machine tools to finish AM parts
  • Creating build files using applicable software, machine prep, material selection, cleaning parts, and final assembly including use of adhesives and finishes
  • Customer coordination regarding process and design for AM

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Experience in additive manufacturing
  • Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
  • Experience in mechanical design for additive manufacturing parts/methods

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Level 2: 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using precisions measuring equipment
  • Spray painting models and assemblies
  • Ability to learn and support in fast paced Research and Development (R&D) environments
  • Ability to collaborate with both our team and our customers
  • Focus on customer needs and ability to work directly with customers towards goals
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
