Virtual Design, Development and Validation (VDDV) at General Motors is looking for driven individuals to become Computer Aided Engineers (CAE) and lead the future of virtual engineering. As a company we are focused on using virtual tools as the primary driver to enable speed and build-in quality. We are looking for our candidates to lead engineering projects by demonstrating initiative, creativity, decision making, and project management throughout the vehicle development process. In addition, you will provide technical direction while working with multiple functional groups.

Responsibilities:

Entry level Computer Aided Engineer, working under the general mentorship of senior CAE engineers, responsible for using CAE to develop and support solutions to meet vehicle requirements. Conduct analytical structural simulations using software to evaluate performance. This activity includes problem solving with support of the Integration leaders. Work requires an understanding of basic engineering or analytical concepts. Has the ability to work with specific direction. And make basic decisions based on general practices and procedures. Generate technical/design solutions that meet performance targets while in a timely manner. Gaining exposure to the Vehicle Development Process requirements, while developing proficiency in Project Planning.

  • Drive Process Automation for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models.
  • Support early architecture and advanced program development with rapid model/concept methods.
  • Develop methods to ensure quality or Validate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models.
  • Support Innovation, new methods, and Road-to-Lab-to-Math projects.
  • Track ongoing CAE Studies, provide communication between program and CAE teams.
  • Estimate project timelines and manage internal customer expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
  • Must be graduating between December 2025 and August 2026
  • Programming and Python Scripting knowledge.
  • Demonstrated skills in process automation.
  • Vehicle partitioning, and GVDP process understanding.
  • Demonstrated skills in disciplined problem solving and data analysis and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills in learning new software tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in Collaboration, and Communication, Customer relationship management and project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling.
  • Exposure to software tools: ANSA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter.
  • Aptitude for taking initiative, process integration and global collaboration.
  • Knowledge of, and experience using principles of robust design and uncertainty analysis.
